Keep your vehicle SAFE with regular Brake Service.
Most of today’s cars have disc brakes on the front of the car and drum brakes on the back. All brakes depend on friction to function. The friction is by either a brake pad or a brake shoe. To stop a wheel, the disc brake uses a caliper fitted with brake pads to grab a spinning disc, or rotor. The drum brake has a wheel cylinder that pushes a brake shoe against the inside of a spinning drum.
There are ways to tell if your brakes need attention. A spongy pedal, one that is low can mean that there’s air in the hydraulic system. A red brake-warning light on your dashboard could mean that there’s an imbalance within your hydraulic system. Some brake noises are normal; however, loud chirps, continuous squeals and grinding sounds almost always mean that it’s time for new brake pads or shoes. Anytime you hear something unusual or feel something different when you apply the brakes you should have them checked out. Your life depends on it.
